On a blustery night at Kirkland ., Jenny’s Aura won handsomely from Miterdale Copper and Overwater Jack.

There was a close finish in the remaining fields , pups a three way battle ,Baba O’ Riley holding Forlorn Spring and SomeMan, similarly ln the open maidens the Foxparke’s had the first three with  hooligan beating Homeward Pride and Saucy Nancy.

And in the gloom , the final event  went to Miterdale Prim beating Foxparke So Be It.Making it a good night for the Miterdales and the Foxparkes.

Report. A poor field for the seniors and they were strung out like ” Monday’s washing “,if you put on an all-in then be prepared for most of the qualifying hounds to run in that race when the weather is against them. That said– It takes nothing away from Miterdales Steele victory, he won by 25 metres and with a 100 metres to go was a generous even money to win. The first three were well clear. In the pup trail four hounds showed with a Winning chance and outbattling them all was Rover who beat kennelmate Rhyme with Meadow Spot and Huntsman’s Nimrod close up .

Complimenting the puppy winner was Silver dusk from the same kennel , who won the hotly contested All-In from Wednesdays winner Marlou.

Palm Bay came with a nice lead in the Non – Winners and although Copperfield reduced the arrears , she held on to her lead, a welcome winner for Norman and Lynn and their kennel hand , the loquacious Alan.

Report. The “R” team was in form once again at Dearham when claiming four tickets in the pup trail – Rhythm came from fourth position to take the trail by three lengths from Ranger;earlier in the seniors Washington  had led for most of the trail and although finishing tired he had plenty to spare over Bronco.

The pup Meadow Spot registered her first win of the season, the sister of Best Mate and Cuckoo Lane finished well to beat a Hooligan and a Tramp.

Report. The dry weather shows no sign of ending and consequently the hounds are having to contend with the hard ground and dusty conditions. Suffering last night was the joint pup favourite Best Mate and  of  course the promoters , trying to keep the sport going in adverse conditions.

last night the restricted trail attracted only five runners in which the first two home were both called “Billy”, it escapes me why ? lol.

Nine seniors and it developed into a two dog race, Overwater Hally proving the stronger on the uphill finish to fend off ” Joe” making it three out of four for the Irvings Stockdale farm kennel in the senior trails at Dean.

And on that winning note Overwater Seth was made joint favourite to win the juniors but like the ” BUS” you wait ages for one and along come two , up popped Rhythm  for win number two after Sunday’s bitch produce win.

Report. The first two trails were watched from the Bridekirk crossing where after having a good lead Overwater Crazy was joined by four others led by Washington – Overwater Hally and Tommy’s Legacy with Kinniside Joe in touch.

The senior maidens were well strung out and was Lady Anne in front at the Redmain crossing , when they came to Bridekirk ” Josie” had the proverbial mile lead but she was missing a pad and slowing down considerably , on the contrary Bronco was ” flying” and even a comfort break wasn’t going to stop him.

The Blue Riband event  went to the Dearham Kennel of Abram and McMaster when Rhythm came from behind Blondie to win by three lengths with her kennelmates Rhyme and Rita in third and fourth.

The open pups was won in a decisive manner by Overwater Seth well clear of the other two  pups from Dearham Rover and Ranger.

Silver Dusk had an easy win in the restricted trail making it a double day for the Dearham kennel and Kendal hound Aspire followed up her Friday’s win in the veterans with another veteran win.

a good day’s trailing despite the dry weather and although a small loss was recorded on the day ,which is immaterial , the hounds coped well and the HTA’s thanks go to all the sponsors . the Cockermouth and Workington area committee, the gatekeepers , trailers, scouts etc .more to follow.

Report. Kirkstone, one of the few venues left where hounds find underfoot conditions obliging, and as for minimum distance for the short trails which was advertised , on consulting the met office and was told there was every chance of rain on the summit of Kirkstone, it was decided to run the normal trails which the seniors completed in normal time but the short trails took considerable longer than usual. Overwater Seth beating the clock with 13 seconds to spare beating Best Mate by 10 yards and the non – winners were led in by Huntsman’s Novice who won rather easily in a time faster than the pups. The final event, the veterans ran the opening section in the average time of five minutes , three minutes faster than the previous two trails, you cant beat knowledge, and here Aspire won with plenty to spare over Grange Music,
