Report. Sublime to the ridiculous can only describe the weather at Shap today – after a prolonged period of sun we were today subject to rain and gale force winds which probably contributed to the puppy trail being three minutes over the maximum limit.  And once more it was Huntsman’s Nimrod over the line in first followed by Rover.

In the senior trail it was a battle royal to the line between Washington and Jenny’s Aura . the latter getting the verdict, Persian Bay was a close third.

The restricted trail saw an easy win for Persian Prince , now in the Mike Watson kennel, he landed a substantial gamble. who says bookies never lose, the train leaving the station is the last train to call at Shap.

Only four all inners but the fastest time of the four short trails.

Last but not least and the largest field of the day ,well ! it isn’t every day you get to race for £200 thanks to the sponsors Patrick and Nicola Goode was the open maidens and in a four hound photo finish ( too windy for the camera) Huntsman’s Novice prevailed  over Summer Rose..
