Report; Kendal on a warm day with it’s limestone outcrops provides a stern test for both hound and owner and passing with flying colours was the Overwater team of Emily and James with Overwater Arnie , Gemini and Langdale Ranger, and a second with Roger whom I might add was shouted home with gusto by James , you would have thought he didn’t want Arnie to win. well he did by a few lengths and Emily was “ having a word”.
Funny things happen in trailing and today was no exception as the winning pup crossed the line which one was it ,was it Gemini or was it Hawkswood, both similar in colour and markings , brother and sister , now therein lies the clue – One has and One hasn’t.!!! So!, after Emily had given the bait and then Denis claimed it,– then Denis looked underneath and Emily looked at the rear and they came to the conclusion that Overwater Gemini had won and the winner was shouted out as being Overwater Wood. Apparently they are sisters not brother and sister so I apologise for not knowing the difference – but what was Dennis looking for perhaps you get a better view from the front.
The best finish of the afternoon ( according to Graham Thornton.) was in the maidens where Grange Music beat Lone Rebel by a length with Lady Anne a close third and in the restricted trail a welcome return to the winner’s enclosure for Langdale Ranger now in the hands of the Overwater Irving’s.
The veterans were led home by local hound Artisan who, with Free Spirit were well clear of Kerrymore.
