A report with a different slant as most of the evening was spent ‘ scouting for hounds’.
It is a well know fact in trailing that on running a trail for the second time they will knock one or two minutes off the time. Well! the pups at Kendal knocked Ten minutes off Tuesdays trail. Jenny’s Aura, first pass the post on Tuesday was made odds on to win in regulation time and looked to have every chance but fluffed the gate and Overwater Roger took over and won by a length with Kenmore a close third.
With Huntsman’s Jewel winning the senior trail rather handily from Eden Rossi, it was the start of a profitable evening for the lone Bookie.
Explore won the restricted trail ,not a bad feat as according to one ,who shall remain nameless , was running third in the seniors. Second was Free Spirit, now in the Miterdale kennel, a good performance for a hound that hasn’t ‘ travelled far!’
Making the journey from Cleator Moor proved no obstacle to ‘Trent’ aka Da Look when he beat ‘local ‘ Artisan , who probably has run more times ‘up above’. These two were well clear of the third , another long traveller Miss Ellie.
Just a note and an eye opener for the scout -I was scouting a one track , dead end lane and- would you credit it five vehicles went past and they all returned, even had to stop one whilst the hounds crossed.
