Report. On a fine afternoon, as we looked over Ennerdale Lake to the fells of the Lake District, nobody could have envisaged we were looking- overwater.!
And Overwater it was – Arnie, Roger and Jack to be precise. Arnie was first up and He won by a few lengths after a tussle with ‘ Gracie ‘ up the last meadow with Try Again in third and then it was Roger’s turn and he had a prolonged battle with both the ‘General and ‘Larty’ before leaping over the line to secure victory.
And finally the two year old ‘ Jack’ enjoying his first season romped home in the last . After all the runners had run up the forestry path from the start , turned around , back down the path, a couple of tours of the starting field , and then they decided to go- all apart from ‘ Billy Bowe’ who in that short run took his pads off.
These three winners were interloped by ‘ Layla’ who won the maidens for John and David by a length from Bluebond and Rickman just behind. Apparently the leader fell over his ‘big feet; on the trod, according to sources he went down like ‘ Patterson’
On a lighter side somebody (nameless) listened intently to the future of the Overwater kennel finding out that there next run was going to be from the Isle Of Wight to Southampton!
