First – a big thank you for turning up on such a dismal day.

Thanks to the farmers especially Alan and Sarah Clarke for allowing us to plough their field.

A special thanks to ‘those in the  background’, trailers Garry, Tom ,Graham, Roy and Robert. Scouts Bruce ,Mick, and especially Robert Reid, who stayed on the main road all afternoon, the catchers, Kirsty and Pat for the raffle , Bill for judging  John for ‘anything ‘ and a special thanks to all hose who stayed behind to help ‘the stranded’.

The meeting was put back half an hour to accommodate those spectators and hounds that prefer it dry ( believe me!).

The weather was unpredictable , one minute warm , the next hail, then rain with the only prediction that was certain -the field would turn into a bog- it did !

17 seniors faced the starter in the first trail and Marli, not for the first time, threw away a winning lead by gawping letting in Overwater Arnie, who said He would be back and He is. Endure was second and Marli third. At halfway (see video) go to houndtrailingassociation. com, press the you tube icon and then videos, you can make your own conclusion as to what , wher,and whatever.

Same place but later on –the senior maidens are filmed cossing the road. Huntsman’s Jenny has a clear lead with which she keeps to the  finish. Yogi Bear was second and jazz Band was third.

The puppy trail provided an exciting finish with five hounds in contention. The favourite Jenny’s Aura held on to a half length victory over Canny Mover with Larty Carty and the General close behind.

The pup maidens and first to capitulate was youre’ very own Boston and the remaining 16 where then eclipsed , by the ante post favourite for the championship – ‘Eclipse’ who ran on strongly from Miterdale Rusty ( which is copper coloured)and Manna . By the way – Miterdale Copper is rusty coloured.

Finishing fifth was Summer Rose which put a smile on Willie’s face – Mark it for the future.

The final trail and the final nail in the bookies coffin when in -form Cartier won handsomely from Paloma Faith and C/D winner Try Time.

The only road crossing, which is made easier by lowering the wall , saw every senior and senior maiden .pup maiden and restricted hounds go across with the minimum of fuss. But not the pups not one crossed at the dedicated point but followed the one in front and jumped wide over a strategically placed cloth.

Not a comprehensive report but as it was it’s the best I could muster.
