Report.
Another windy day , fine but on the chilly side for Sunday afternoons fare from Dean. Only 33 runners for the four trails but that didn’t detract from the afternoons sport and the punters were happy as the results went their way.
In the seniors and once again ‘Arnie’ from Stockdale farm ,hidden between Bassenthwaite and Uldale, scored again, his third win in just over a week, beating the consistent Tan Ted comfortably.
The senior maidens and for the second time this week Phil Graham , the Cockermouth area Chair, was having to tip the trailers, as Flash Dance( formerly Silver Wings) held off the challenge of former kennelmate Trooper Thorn (five points) to win by half a length with another kennelmate Barton in third .
In the Puppy trail Norman and Lynn Brown’s Barrow hound Persian Bay kept up her challenge for the title with a facile win over the two ‘black ‘uns. Ben 10 and Dairy Lightning.
The pup maidens field was reduced from six to four when two hounds returned to the start and Billy Birkett ‘s Brigham hound Billy Bowe had a keen battle up the long finish with Dearhams Delta Dawn ,he held on to win by a length.
What makes trailing- well Jeanette had three runners -two lasts and one next to last and she was still smiling – her turn will come.
Goosewell tomorrow- prize for the first person to come up with a plausible idea as to how it got its name.
